Honestly though, if you want to stop school violence tragedies, security is also a big part of solution. Why not perimeter fencing, security checkpoints, 1-2 plainclothes Federal Marshalls? (in other words, like airports, sadly). We could also use long distance metal detectors, better tasers, and (gulp) AI.

It's sad that kids may have to go through annoying security checkpoints in the future (I've actually already seen this at some troubled Bay Area high schools), so let's hope streamlined scanning tech comes to bear (and something that "sees" plastic weapons).
