...and next you'll say that Butch & Sundance didn't survive a jump into a 500 ft river canyon to escape a posse?

1) "Gunfights" were apparently an extension of the duel, which had been in place for a long time.

2) The majority may not have seen bank robberies & Indian raids, but when they did happen they were quite a spectacle?

3) The gunslingers with the highest body counts, John Wesley Hardin, Tom Horn, Billy the Kid, Deacon Jim, killed people under less than honorable circumstances. Today, they'd be called "psychopaths"?

4) The Wild West made for perfect Hollywood morality plays. It seems the whole Wyatt Earp franchise was non-existent until he was hired to be an advisor on William S Hart/John Ford movie sets and started telling stories...the entire Earp Bros, Clanton Gang, Doc Holliday franchise grew from that...

5) It seems the Wild West towns were capitalism run amok...disorganized cow towns initially with saloons, brothels & gambling, gradually steadied by a farmer/churchgoer economy. They started as Las Vegas with some Mafioso characters & gradually became Peoria?
