Certainly there will be more attempts at taking over seats of government (State or Federal) under the pretext of "stolen elections", probably with weapons. The wild card is whether the National Guard or Military will join in (like they did in 1861, this time probably not). This is all certainly ill-advised given our growing Cold-Wars with China and Russia (which makes you wonder how much they are weaponizing our differences, since our ability to activate diverse wartime forces is an advantage). As you said, many of the State’s differences aren't that pronounced, once you get past the Deep South and East/West Coastal Cities. I could never figure out the logic of "taking back our Country" with automatic weapons, since any future wars likely to be more decisively be fought with cyberweapons, drones and jets. Blue States would have a distinct advantage in any case, and any such Civil War would begin to look like it did 1861-65. Let's hope such a conflict doesn't happen, as it will be “cutting off our nose to spite our face”.
