Elizabeth Taylor once commented that she only had monogamous sex within marriage...within whose marriage was not clear.

Movie stars lead lives that work against devotional marriage:

1) They are sometimes emotional/temperamental, which are qualities that acting often requires.

2) They are often away from home for long periods, and work long hours.

3) When the star is popular, it forces the other party to live in the shadow, while feeding the star's big-ego.

4) Above all, being a movie star is a life of constant temptation, and many succumb to shorter lives compromised by drugs, alcohol, smoking, sex, too-much travel.

It seems the boozy, bitchy characters Taylor played in “Butterfield 8”, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”, “Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf” were not far from her real-life character at the time?

Can you imagine how lonely she must have been towards the end, when she was single, overweight and the butt of jokes (Belushi’s imitation comes to mind), while hanging out at Neverland Ranch. But she seemed to have a thick skin, and people began to admire her for being a survivor. She was quite a beauty in her earlier years, started to fade in her 30s (unlike actresses of today, who seem to stay in shape much longer).
