For those of us who read Superman comics as kids, Russia is kinda like "Bizarro Superman", all the Superpowers but everything reversed (ie fly backwards, "good" is "bad", live on square-shaped planet called 'htrae", earth spelled backwards). They seem to want desperately to not be like us, while at the same time trying to be a warped version of us.
