Good points. It would appear that renewables/batteries/hydrogen are poised to power most transportation on a largely electrified basis within 20 years. I wonder if rather than carrying around large battery packs, cars may eventually pick up much of their charge from the roads they travel upon (makes more sense, reduces critical weight). Also, energy may get hecka cheap in about 50 years (when abundant solar energy is fully utilized). This may make clean water more available (through now pricey reverse osmosis etc) plus make hothouse fruit/veggies cheaper (by offsetting heating costs). Big question raised by your article, will ships/large planes use batteries or hydrogen? My research suggests large vehicles currently suffer from low energy density/weight of batteries which create diminishing returns, favoring hydrogen...we'll see!
