Holy fornication! You're right about these things.
1) The Bible really needs some kind of "reconciling" feature to recenter itself back to its core values of Ten Commandments and Beatitudes. I guess Christians consider Jesus and the New Covenant this rectifying mechanism, but they lack many specifics.
2) Apparently, the Bible was edited and "hijacked" in many ways, but we may never know exactly how. I'm guessing:
a) Historians point to many 5th Century BC revisions, apparently to satisfy restive Israelites who were asking things like "why do the innocent suffer". They say Leviticus was also revised (strange since it was supposed to be word of God handed to Moses, maybe 12th Century BC)
b) Obviously, Romans put their own spin on Christianity, choice of New Testament books controversial, Trinitarian "Holy Spirit" concept somewhat controversial and vague.
c) It's said that Islam hijacked "Holy Spirit" concept as pretext/justification for Mohammed
3) I have to believe that the Bible condones heterosexual marriage and procreation though, since Anthropologist say all cultures since beginning of time want people to "know who their Mommies and Daddies are". I'd say that gay/lesbian would be perfectly acceptable under Beatitudes.
4) The slaves, concubines, prostitutes of many Old Testament males imply a kind of privileged wink-wink, hypocritical morality, not in keeping with 10 Commandments and Beatitudes.
5) Is the Bible due for a new edition? (Black lettering = what we should do, Red lettering = outdated BS)
