I agree that fracking is problematic, but there are apparently ways to frack without contaminating groundwater and methane release.

There are also many ways to extract Natural Gas besides fracking, and my point is that naturally occuring methane release (from receding polar ice, swamps, landfills, possibly warming oceans releasing methane "ice") may HAVE to be addressed by usage as natural gas:

Certainly natural gas is not perfect, but it is a whole lot better than burning coal or oil right now, and if carbon capture were employed, almost a "green gas" that could conveniently be piped using the existing infrastructure.

Until renewables & better batteries can come fully onboard (and intermittencies addressed), we are in a position where natural gas might be the best alternative to balance a burgeoning power demand.
