I agree, until we have more information and know the proper dose/can manage side effects, Rapamycin may not be efficacious overall. Much written about managing the rogue immune system, here's one of my takes: https://scottvern.medium.com/the-rogue-immune-system-hall-of-fame-29bd81044152 As said previously, I disagree with the "future immortality" people, as the body seems to have compensating mechanisms (ie the thing that gives life also gives death?) I'm trying to write an article on this subject too, but need more info. I'd say that simply speaking, "immortality" proponents think you can kill off old cells and replace them with stem cells of some sort. In reality, I don't think it is that simple as the body is a dynamic/interactive system in which cells need to be "trained" (analog might be a kind of "Logan's Run" society where old people are eliminated and replaced by 2 yr olds...where would there be the "institutional knowledge" left to run society?) Also, accumulated stress on cells (radiation, oxidation, etc) is unavoidable (perhaps even necessary), happens even in "healthy" cells. In any case, perhaps cell stress/aging for the best as it is engine for mutation/adaption, making way for next (improved?) generation, plus who wants a bunch of horny 120 yr olds running around? Keep up this thread! You and I probably need to write for Science magazines or Atlantic...Medium readers don't provide much of an audience!
