I agree with the responder that speaks of the enormous potential of offgrid rooftop solar/home storage batteries (where weight & energy density less of an issue). For cars, fewer "high performance" ones may continue with lithium ion, regular cars sodium ion? (kind of like super vs regular fuel?) This may relieve some concerns about lithium mining. I believe higher torque requirement vehicles (ie trucks) will go the hydrogen fuel cell route.
