I wonder if 100 years from now, Scientists will look back and conclude that some of today's vaccines have a ratio of perhaps 100 lives saved to 1 case of hidden impairment. Of course by then they will understand these mechanisms, have better vaccines, or at least alternatives for the potentially impaired. In the meantime, we are guinea pigs, but the vaccine advantages so far have greatly outweigh the disadvantages.
The best explanation for Autism I've heard is that in modern times, two mildly Autistic parents (ie college grads w Asperger's) are much more likely to have offspring.
Due caution is needed for vaccine approval (to ensure efficacy and safety), but too much caution may allow pandemics to run wild?
