I'm thinking the main question may be turning from "are there visitors from beyond our world" (because I'm generously adding potential future-uses traveling back in time & possibly extrahuman (think angels, etc here) visitors to the hypothetical beings from other planets) to the question "if these entities are so advanced, why have they not exploited humanity in some way" (see "Independence Day" for details).

It all implies that these beyond worlders have an interest in helping us (or at least farming us for some future exploitation, or making us part of a game for their entertainment).

As a science guy, I've been taught to believe in Physics, etc and the other "rules" of science, but if we live in a contrived Universe (one sort of set up as a phony "zoo", like in "The Matrix") then all bets are off, "Science" is just our immediate and measurable perception (like a lion thinking his savannah and what governs it is the entire universe).

As such, there is certainly room for science & religion to coexist in the broad view., knowing that there may be things beyond our understanding that are sort of nurturing us (that we need to respect).
