In a country where Republicans used to be pro business and "government off our backs", yet with a concept of "good government" (recognition of basic science), DeSantis has essentially become a government overreaching Socialist:

1) The extreme overreach of punishing Disney for LGBT inclusive marketing probably has the James Carvilles drooling, as it will now be so easy to paint DeSantis as an over-regulating fool.

2) Similarly, his severe restrictions on abortion conjure up images of a police-state armed with speculums, which probably has Jefferson, Reagan, and Milton Friedman doing 1-1/2 inward pikes in their graves.

3) The full anti-vax thing really flies in the face of the "good government" sponsorship of Science and Progress (which happened to win WW II for us and made us the leaders of the free world, among other things).

4) The battle against "everything woke" in schools starts attacking children's books about George Washington Carver, M&Ms, Muppets, etc. Sure the teacher's union needs accountability, but wft, are we going full Jerry Falwell or Tucker Carlson?

5) Trying to "out ship asylum seekers to DC" Gov Abbot is silly since a) Its a US premise that we at least listen to the pleas of the foreign oppressed (most are shipped back), b) CA has more migrants than you and we don't bitch, we just kick your ass in everything and c) This is stupid political theater, not solving anything.

I guess as Evangelicals abandon Trump, he may get their primary votes (as Trump forms 3rd party, dooms DeSantis?), but where's the future (or logic) in all this? He meets the "Government over-control of business" test of Socialism in my book, even worse than Bernie-ites (per Political Horseshoe theory?)
