In the 1932 German elections, the Nazis won 37% of the seats, the Communists 14%, the four Centrist Groups together 49%. Communist International (controlled by the Soviets) labelled Centrists "Social Fascists" and rejected all alliances. Sadly, a Communist-Centrist alliance was not formed, which allowed the Nazis to take power. This has many parallels in today's US electorate. The Progressives don't seem to realize that they are obliquely empowering the MAGA wing (both by giving MAGA talking points and taking away Centrist votes). The Jill Steins selfishly and myopically eroded just enough Centrist votes to enable Trump (in 2016 election, hopefully not this one).
