Indeed, how much protein for seniors is too much, since at some point it can raise cholesterol, inflammation, and be hard on the kidneys. At 66, I've learned to double my workouts (cardio and strength) to 7 hrs/wk while adding protein and fiber supplements to get my 80gm/30gm/day respectively. Its definitely harder build muscle at my age. I was on low dose of metformin until I learned it worked against building muscle mass (since I've gained weight but retained muscle). I take Vit D & C supplements, Glucosamine, Niacin, and Ashwagandha, which seem to help. Funny that with all the effort to get enough protein and fiber (which tend to come in 2 different packages), I don't get a whole lot of carbs and fats! Its all fruits, veggies, salads, nuts, lean unprocessed meats, dairy (and supplements) for me! Thanks for the article...
