It seems you're going around the world at every point in history to explore abnormal sex habits, but I keep reading them so who am I to judge? What's next, "The Twisted Erotic Practices of the Spartan Hopolites"?
The takeaway from this one may be that a difficult and robust setting may have legitimized many things that weren't accepted in polite society then (or even now), for example the many African American cowboys in the Wild West. Kind of an "opportunity" for many immigrants, albeit with many dangers. I still don't quite understand how prostitutes entertained grubby cowboys, unless they were first required to take a long bath, get doctor's exam, and wear a condom (otherwise the prostitute's career might've been short).
Another question might be, what is the baseline of LGBT? Did it express itself in higher proportions on the wild frontiers, or was it simply accepted & reflective of baseline proportions?
