Jerusalem is thought to have originated 6,000 yrs ago. At that time, it may have been occupied by "Semitic People" (Male Haplotype J, which back then might have been the root of both Jews, Palestinians, and Arabs) Recorded history suggests the following occupiers:

2000-1500 BC Canaanites

1500-1200 BC Egyptians

1200-733 BC Israelites

733-539 BC Neo Assyrian, Babylonian

539-332 BC Persian

332-144 BC Hellenistic

140-63 BC Hasmonian (Abrahamic)

63 BC-324 AD Roman

324-636 AD Byzantine

636-1099 AD Muslim Caliphates

1099-1291 AD Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem

1291-1516 AD Mamluks Period

1516-1917 AD Ottoman Period

1917-1948 AD British Mandate

1948-Present Israel

So you see, those of the Jewish faith may have held Jerusalem for perhaps 620 of the last 4,024 years? But if you consider Muslims "Abrahamic", add another 1,089 years for 1,709 of 4,024 years. And if you consider Canaanites "proto-Abrahamic-Phoenicians", add another 500 years for 2,209 of 4,024 years, or a little over 50%. So you see, no one really has a 100% claim on Jerusalem.

With all this mixing of blood and religion, its hard to decide WHO exactly has claim to Jerusalem. With modern genetics, they're finding that what separates people are mostly lines on a map. For instance, most northern Europeans are essentially "German" (so why are we fighting?)

Why not just keep Jerusalem an international city (officiated by the Jordanians), carve out a place in the West Bank for Palestinians (provided they are peaceful), firewall the idiot Iranians (whom even the Arabs hate), make the Zionists respect their various Arab, Armenian, Palestinian, etc citizens and make peace?
