Just watched the "60 Minutes" last night about scandalous defense contractor profiteering. Meanwhile, it seems the Ukraine conflict a worthy cause, a display of modern weapons/tactics (many of which are changing rapidly before our eyes). Despite our $800 billion budget, the US is seeing its weapon stocks rapidly depleted, while things like the F-35 are incredibly expensive, to the point of limited effectiveness. Hopefully, Ukraine and the specter of a Taiwan invasion will wake up the US and allies to produce more relevant and cost-effective weaponry. Strange to way but why not put more money into missiles, missile defenses, subs, and drones, less into ships & tanks? Not sure exactly where fighters/bombers stand these days.
