Keep up the good work Dr. Joel, you're my new Dr. Dean Edell (who also wrote about the practical nuances of health). Now we have to figure out why a Medium article like “Why 'Eat Less, Move More' Doesn’t Work for Weight Loss" gets 3800 claps and this one 85. I've been getting "Nature" for the last 10 years, and its ironic that in an era where we're getting close to understanding all the interactions between food and body, there is a corresponding wave of hysteria, conspiracy, and misinformation (and those who know better are too busy to popularize the counterpoints). Many environmental/health effects turn out to be subtle (for instance, apparently living near power lines or too much cell phone use is certainly not good for you, but not so bad as to create a measurable health crisis). The average person doesn't understand "acceptable risk" nor epidemiological trade-offs (like the tiny risks of vaccines that save many) Plus, most have "Boolean" logic, where things are "all good" or "all bad" (usually portions of both). Thanks again for your contributions.
