Let's hope that (gulp) MAGA doesn't get similarly "Disneyfied". Some comments:

1) Though "DaVinci Code" was fictionalized and received criticism, I always thought the part where the Roman Council of Nicea "laundered" Christianity to suit the Romans made a huge amount of sense. It then morphed from Gnostic Gospel things (less materialistic, more inclusive of women, less prudish) to allow "Roman" Catholics to continue controlling everyone?

2) In Peru, they say the Spanish Catholic Conquistadors simply incorporated the Native Inca and other Saints/Gods/festivals into their big tent. I wonder if this was successfully done in other places, where Catholicism took root (a sort of franchise, something the Romans were good at).
