My theory involves the Blue Zone Commonality chart included in this article about the benefits of clean air (possibly a stand-in for clean environment):

I suspect that with the Blue Zone commonalities, the highly operative things are 1) Plenty of exercise incorporated into their lives 2) Some sort of caloric restriction and variety (in other words, not so much what you eat but how much, apparently veggies/legumes/fiber/fish quite helpful, not sure about the occasional alcohol, whole grains) 3) Good family values and friendship (ie strong will to live), and 4) Clean environment (these are generally island or coastal communities who don't smoke...mostly "clean air"?)
I'm wondering if things like "nuts", "high polyphenols", "time urgency" might be somewhat incidental, less critical than, or entwined-with these basic commonalities?
