My wife and I travelled to Africa, S America, and all over Europe in our 30s, thinking we shouldn't wait until we were old. This involved some sacrifices that we regretted (one was leaving our young son with his grandparents when we were off to Africa...we didn't think it would work with him, a decision I regret to this day).

Tragically, my wife died a cancer death at 52, so I guess travelling then was the right thing, yet that conflicts w my belief that the kids always come first. I'm in late 60s now, recently visited Asia, Oceana, Africa, Europe many times, but it is getting repetitive and tiresome (there's nothing like the excitement of travelling when you're young). My kids have been to Europe a few times (one has been to S America), I suppose no urgency to visit the rest of those countries, all considered.
