Nice to hear more about PHEVs. I bought an electric car in '88. I learned firsthand the pluses and minuses (I was in the Electric Auto Association at the time). I believe that PHEVs are a great "transition" into full-on EVs (which unless they are a small car, are not quite there yet in terms of battery efficiencies, range, cost, etc). Simply put, lack of energy density/weight of batteries creates a "dimishing return" factor in larger vehicles.

Anyway, in the US many drive pickups (up to 50% in some places), and I'm eagerly awaiting the first PHEV pickup (supposedly the '25 Ford Ranger) or hydrogen pickup (Toyota, maybe?) That would be a perfect fit for my lifestyle, which is usually <25 mile daily trips, an occasional 300 mile weekender.
