Of course, we all agree that Trump needs to pay for his crimes, both to protect our Country and show Americans that Presidents are not above the law (like Nixon). That said, there is a bit of a dilemma here, assuming that if we put him in jail, Trump will unleash his followers in a fury of violent avengence.
1) We could all hope that this Trump-led violent backlash could be put down, but it may involve substantial carnage and extortive demands. It may also inspire future idiots in the name of some twisted cause.
2) It seems Trump may be a "you'll never take me alive" kind of guy, hoping to become a martyr for the ages (a 2nd option? The Hitler demise?)
3) One option would be to treat him like Napoleon, knowing that he has substantial popular appeal (and the ability to resurrect his evil doings). You could exile him to some lavish place (the Island of Elba?) where he'd be under house arrest, keeping his mouth shut until he fades away.
