Ok last one I promise...Congress must've passed these laws around 1950:

1) 80% of movies had to be Westerns

2) Western morality plays had to include Jimmy Stewart, Gary Cooper, John Wayne, or Henry Fonda.

I think "Magnificent Seven" is the greatest Western of all time. Though it is a Kurosawa ripoff, it has 6 squinty-eyed action stars in their ascendancies (McQueen, Bronson, Brynner, Coburn, Vaughan, Wallach), is an outstanding morality play, and has a killer score by Bernstein. "Blazing Saddles" may suggest the dominant moral theme of the West...that far from Stewart, Cooper, Wayne, and Fonda, white frontier settlers may have been (gulp) rather stupid and racist!
