Ok, retired Civil Engineer here, good points made about Dems and roads, Repub Socialists, my takes at:

"Infrastructure" a tricky word, initially Biden's 2.3 billion bill had some things like "Senior Care" (?) not complaining but not infrastructure as we know it. We need to be careful that we don't fund "infrastructure" that gets leapfrogged (the way wireless cell phone tech eclipsed recent built telephone lines in some developing countries). I happen to believe (with some sadness) that smart cars and larger/better aircraft are going to replace passenger rail, for instance. Renewables are great until one realizes that in war or energy shortage (or without better battery storage), oil or nuclear are still king (and I wish they weren't). Having spent much of career in transporation, I suppose roads/bridges still a good buy but tech could use improvement (polymer concretes to seal bridges...using recycled plastics? Quick 3D constructed bridges? Floating cars that charge on highways?), otherwise using tomorrow's dollars to build yesterday's technology? The following deserve at least pilot project funding?

I spent rest of career in water/wastewater, look for a paradigm change there as we struggle to combat drought, perhaps look for more low-tech, env. friendly options. Quite a hingepoint in infrastructure history here!
