One of our society's mysteries is "why alcohol is so well accepted" when 1) Its probably worse than pot in many ways 2) It causes so many health issues that the rest of us have to obliquely pay for 3) It kills many innocent people (mostly in traffic deaths) and 4) Its probably the main trigger behind many a date rape kind of situation. I get why Prohibition didn't work and the merits of Libertarian ideology, but look for sensible tech limiters in the future (like ignitions that won't work beyond 0.08 or wearable monitors/recorders that document misbehavior at parties), perhaps sadly necessary to protect victims. "Rights" people will cry "Nanny State!" re: these alcohol limiters, but what about the rights of the innocent?
