R.I.P. Jerry Miller. Matthew Katz was the band manager from Hell, who thankfully died last year. He seemed to exist for the only purpose of selfishly sucking the financial life out of 60s SF bands, while destroying their product and futures (to the tragic detriment of the audience). What Moby Grape and It's a Beautiful Day could've been without him? Of course, Spence & Mosely's foray into drugs/mental illness didn't help. Nobody ever talks about this, but it seems early Grateful Dead and Moby Grape sound similar. I know the members sometimes played together and were all part of the 60's music scene, but was one heavily influencing the other?
