Sheesh, next you're gonna say that Roman Legionaries didn't wear those red shoe brush things on their helmets, or that Shelby Foote wasn't being completely honest when he rolled out the "Lost Cause" justification in "The Civil War".

Thanks as always Paul. Some future food for your historic thoughts:

1) Vermont militia and Benedict Arnold represent the sort of "frenemies" in the Revolution (a big help early, less so later). If Arnold had been killed at Saratoga, a big hero (he survived catastrophic injury...oops). Early 1780s revealed Haldimand Affair (negotiation between British and some Vermonters) which was fortunately eclipsed by Yorktown victory.

2) As the Monty Python troupe and forensic specialists later learned, Medieval peasants actually had great teeth (no processed sugar).

Also, is a "friendly little Nazi salute" a kind of oxymoron? How did one respond to such a "come here, go away"?
