So without being an expert, I might try to summarize as follows:
1) Fruits generally make your body "work" for the sugar, and have helpful micronutrients.
2) Bread on the other hand, while possibly containing small amounts of helpful whole grains or mircrobes, is one simple step away from sugar.
3) Even ice cream has some complexity and sugar delaying ability
4) Sodas are "mainlining" sugar
