Thank you for pointing out that sometimes a higher BMI in men is reflecting more muscle-mass. a too-low BMI in old age can also be a danger sign (which we've all suspected from empirical evidence, especially ability to weather a lengthy illness). At 66, I've been working out like crazy, looking good but not dropping the BMI much from 27.5 to the desired 25. I believe a better indicator of health would be the waist to hip ratio, (which for me is 1.0 ideally 0.9). That would be an indication the fatty tissue around the organs was under control!
