The Isrealis may be bullies, but with Iran and their proxies threatening the region, the US needs to broker something that involves Arab alliance w Israel. This might be a Gazan cease-fire and pathway to Palestinian Statehood (followed-up by a Saudi-Egyptian-Israeli-US-Jordanian-Pakistani military effort to crush the Hezzbolah-Houthis-Iran war machine). This seems natural as it is along Sunni-Shia lines, and I suppose what's holding US-Israel back is that they don't want to help Sunni extremists like ISIS and Hamas. Egypt is losing $$ from lack of Suez traffic (about 10 billion a year), so you'd think they'd especially join in (if a Gaza-solution could allow them to save face in the Arab world). Turkey? Hard to say what opportunist Erdogan would do, but he'd probably stay "neutral", then pick up the scraps in Syria. US/Israel in long-run need to be exponents of peace/stability, but Iran is forcing their hand. Trump was actually good at encouraging Saudi-Israeli alliance, but for nefarious reasons that would backfire (like Kushners developing West Bank, turning blind-eye to Khassogi)
