There is a German movie about Hitler's last days, called "Downfall". It was based upon an account by one of Hitler's secretaries, Traudl Junge, who miraculously survived the madness. During the last 10 days (during the Russian assault of Berlin), Hitler increasingly blames the generals (who are competent but admit to fighting a hopeless defense and trying to convince Hitler to sue for peace) and the German people (who he thinks betrayed him, but aside from the fanatical SS, are running for their lives). A few sycophants comfort Hitler in his bunker as he and his "loyal" followers contemplate suicide rather than surrender. It seems Trump is entering this phase...the Hitlerian micromanagement and distrust of Generals (calling them incompetent rather than correctly assessing the bad odds), and finally the paranoia, detachment from reality, and "never surrender". He is already calling his three most loyal people "traitors" (basically the ones that had to uphold their Constitutional Oaths against the madness, Pence, Barr, & McConnell, who are like Hitler's Generals), while he still enjoys support from the hardcore racists and nuts like QAnon, Oath Keepers, Proud Boys (an SS parallel anyone?) In the end, Trump and his sons may call everyone "traitors" and self-destruct rather than "give in", while Kushner/Ivanka (and Melania?) tip-toe away?
