This is a relatively waning thread, as renewables/storage are coming online at an incredible rate. Portugal and Spain are close to running completely on renewables. In Hawaii (which relies heavily on battery storage by necessity), so many have bought rooftop solar w battery backup that utilities almost don't need utility storage. What remains to be seen is:
1) A State like CA really needs to produce about 200% or more of its renewable need, as it has a great deal of renewable potential.
2) When other sectors are converted to electricity (ie autos and industrial/residential heating), renewable demand may go up 2x or more.
The batteries in rooftop and auto electric systems, while relatively pricey, are solving the "intermittency" problem of renewables, as utilities can use them to balance demand. HVDC is distributing renewables to solar and wind poor regions. Investors are plunging into this new tech, as it is profitable (and becoming cheaper than fossil fuel). Hopefully, this has reached critical mass and will be MAGA proof.
