This is conjuring up many "Far Side" cartoon images in my head (plus "Clan of the Cave Bear"). Did Neanderthal women ever force themselves upon reluctant Neanderthal men? Has anyone ever found Neanderthal cave-painting porn? On a more serious note, Anthropologists usually say that "knowing who your Mommy and Daddy are" are universally important, due to the complexity of raising human children and need for parental "buy in", ergo the evolution of the "nurturing male". I wonder when this transition starting taking place in our history.
