This war is reminding me of when Montgomery bombed Normandy after D Day (thereby killing 20k innocent French) to "take out German communications" that turned out to be non existent (sort of a "commit genocide to prevent genocide" thing, the word "genocide" now being defined loosely).
Israel-US will struggle selling this as a measured response with accumulating collateral damage, the US probably getting ready to broker a cease-fire w condition that Netanyahu and Hamas lose power in some fashion. Not much long-term hope for Palestinian State, Iran-brokered forces trying to pick a fight (that Biden doesn't want before an election). I suppose Israel's best bet is (after eviscerating Hamas) trying to snuggle up to neighboring Arab States (ie Egypt and Jordan don't like Hamas either, but Israel now embarrassing them).
US-Israel getting international scorn for being "arrogant", but is Israel supposed to just sit there and take it? Meanwhile, with all the disenfranchised Kurds, Sikhs, etc, what makes the Jews so special (Answer: Like Ukraine, they are NATO's hedge against the really bad guys, Russia and Iran). If this becomes a broader conflict, the "Is Anti-Zionism Anti-Semitism" question may fade into survivalist "West against East".
This is all shaping into a kind of WW III battleground, with Russia-China-Iran on one side, NATO-SEATO (minus Pakistan)-Japan-Israel/Arab States on the other. Turkey and India will try to remain neutral (good luck), along with most of S America and Africa. Tricky as this splits both Christians and Muslims, Armenians/Georgians on a dangerous island. I'd suspect extremely long-term, Russia has more of a bone to pick w China, while Turks/Stans (perhaps including Iran/Pakistan) may become their own autonomous force.
As a partial measuring stick, my fiance is Armenian. They don't like Israel's heavy-handedness either, many have forged friendships with Palestinian Christians, but they generally realize that Hamas/Hezbollah/Houthis are very bad news.
The "Bad Guys" are guilty of totalitarianism, and often ethnic cleansing, invading sovereign states. Hostage-taking frightfully effective against the West. However, the "Good Guys" may need to decide what punishments are just, beyond sanctions. Though nobody likes to talk about it, quite difficult to conduct a proper war without killing innocent people.
