Thought provoking piece. I suppose Trump's photo is in the new Webster's under "Prophet, False", but one would expect Christians to regroup some day under a broader, more tolerant tent in the tradition of Jesus (who I've always felt was a kind of Libertarian). After all, how far can a church of racism, gender exclusion, war, and tax loopholes for rich get without violating its original humble/tolerant/charitable premise (and the American traditions of church/state separation, freedom of conscience)? Not exactly sure where Jesus stood on guns and abortion but he probably wouldn't pack high capacity magazine heat or authorize an army of Pharisees/Sadducees w speculums to invade our homes.
