True, it was strange to see Trump demonize a Latin American group when their vote means so much in critical PA, but the "Latin vote" is complicated.

First, American "Latinos" or "Hispanics" are a diverse group. At an Argentinian night club I attended many years ago, the emcee would ask ie "How many of you are from Cuba? (or Ecuador or Brazil)" etc, then make a joke or play a song from that country that would make everyone laugh. It reminded me of a US nightclub, making light of all our regional differences. They have their own righty/lefty biases.

You'd think that "Latinos" would be hecka mad at Trump, however Miami Cubans are very conservative, many expats were from Latin American ruling class (conservative), and many Mexican/Central Americans are quite Catholic or increasingly Evangelical (um, also conservative). Additionally, Latin "machismo" generally doesn't respond well to things like feminism or LGBT. Then there's the "I got mine, heck with you", where some immigrants close the door behind them. I believe also that many "Latinos" consider themselves "white", basically, and sometimes share disgust with "non-whites".

I've met several families in CA who preceded statehood in 1848 (going back to Spanish Ranchos and Dons). How odd they are now cast as "outsiders".

Its all very sad, but Trump is milking hatred from many groups, not just "whites". Let's hope he loses big on Tues.
