We had a Costa Rican exchange student in the early 90s. We visited him in '02,, while he was working at a Costa Rican baseball factory (he was the liaison between US management and workers). I spoke to the two managers, a kind of evangelical couple who said they wanted to move the factory to China, where people didn't complain so much. Now I wonder how that all worked out! It seems that moving factories back to Latin America and dealing with their complaints might be better than facing the PRC subterfuge, which threatens us militarily, doesn't respect the environment/human rights, and steals trade secrets.
