Welcome back Dr. Joel. Not exactly related, but I'm about BMI 27, tried low carb & metformin, now med. carb & more protein (no metformin). It seems one can carry less weight/less muscle mass, or more weight more muscle mass (about 10 lbs). There are also warnings for oldsters re: too much protein. Where is the balance for us old people? (I'm guessing you'll say skip the metformin & protein supplements). Many doors to the "right amount of carb/protein w/o red meat" open to...beans!
