While we're discussing everything we got wrong about the Vikings, may I recommend the Netflix comedy show "Norsemen", made in Norway about their people in the period of 790 AD. The characters carry on like typical Vikings, yet speak in modern psycho babble, with recognizable modern "hang ups". Example: Upon observation of another character trying unsuccessfully to be Viking "cool", another remarks "that is sooo 770!".

And Norwegians weren't supposed to be funny! (an old Swedish ad for "Life of Brian" reads "A movie so funny...it was banned in Norway!"
