Why There Needs to be More US-Mexico Cooperation Re: Immigration and Drugs

With US imports now moving from China to Mexico, there is a golden opportunity for cooperation between the US and Mexico regarding immigration, crime, and drugs. However, the partnership between the two Nations is at an all-time low. Here is what has happened on these fronts, and what needs to happen, in the midst of partisan bickering.

Illegal Immigration at US-Mexican border, with increasingly high numbers, more sophisticated methods, more drug cartel involvement, fewer Mexicans and increasing numbers of Asians, Middle Easterners, and Africans.

The Problem: It is well-known that there are multiple imminent problems at the US-Mexican border (the Republicans are practically screaming about it). Indeed, because of Asylum, unprecedented demand for illegal border crossings (from Nations worldwide), and ever-sophisticated border-crossing methods (including tunnels, fast boats and planes), illegal-immigration has risen to record levels. Meanwhile, lawless Mexican gangs have a Mafioso-like control over Mexico, and are running Fentanyl, Meth, and Cocaine across our border to a ready US market. The Cartels are also involved in human trafficking and gun-running. None of this is conducive to viable business relationships between the two countries, and Mexico has both downplayed the problems and refused to engage in cooperation.
