With nudity being common in today's films, its interesting for a child of the 60s (like myself) to look back on its evolution:

1) In a sampling of male opinion over the years, the one that seems to come up the most is Ann-Margret in "Carnal Knowledge". It was rather unexpected for a star of that magnitude (at the time), and of course it was a delight.

2) In watching Hayes Code movies, the art-form was almost making the audience imagine what might-be-happening behind the scenes, or what people might look like naked. Was any normal 50s male or female NOT imagining Doris Day/Rock Hudson au natural during those flirty "battle of the sexes" films? After all these years, why do the Hitchcockian Marie-Saints and Hedrons still have so much appeal?

3) It's because ANTICIPATION is the big human driver, whether it be ice cream, sex, or whodunnit. I suppose especially in the days when delayed gratification was the norm. Fulfillment is good too, but sometimes not sustaining as anticipation (especially those trained to enjoy it).

4) I suppose the genitalia and sexual preference barriers will be broken wide-open soon (but will that be the final demise of the anticipation era, the triumph of the "gimme it all now" age?)

5) Network TV is still pretty good, anticipation forced upon it (I'm up to Season 8 in "Friends", and marvel at its use of the genre). Unfortunately, anything goes streaming may spell the end of Network TV.
