Yes, we didn't know at the time that history was being made. I bought a bunch of SNL retrospective episodes several years ago, and was surprised how much funnier this cast was than the Belushi-Ackroyd-Radner group (Phil Hartmann really withstands the test of time, Carvey and Farley also). Another great cast was the short-lived Crystal-Short-Guest-Hall 84-85 group. Yes, it was kind of a boy's club, but I guess Fey-Poehler-Wiig-Rudolph corrected some of that. People like Farley are just boy's comedians, what else can you say? To this day the only guy that can always crack up my 2 sons and I after about 10 seconds. My late wife and I saw Carvey in '83 on our first date, Schneider is home town guy (I did some work for his father). Hartmann's Bill Clinton at McDonalds still a classic, that he, Farley, and Jan Hooks are gone is so sad.
